Meet Mr. Alonso
Mr. Alonso grew up in the city of Bell Gardens and is a product of Catholic education. He attended St. Gertrude Elementary and graduated from St. John Bosco High School in 2001. After high school he earned a Bachelors Degree in Communication Studies at California State University, Long Beach and continued his higher education at Loyola Marymount University earning a Masters in Education as a member of the PLACE Corps Program. Mr. Alonso taught both in the Catholic and charter school systems at St. Paul Catholic School and Richard Merkin- Alliance College Ready Charter School.
Mr. Alonso joins the Salesian High School community following four years at St. John Bosco High School where he served as the Dean of Admissions at his alma mater. Prior to St. John Bosco, Edgar worked as the Associate Director of the PLACE program at Loyola Marymount University responsible for recruiting educators nationally to serve in under-served Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Mr. Alonso hopes to bring his experience and leadership to serve future Mustangs at Salesian High School as the Onward Scholars Program Director.
