Meet Ms. Funes
Ms. Liliana Funes is excited to launch the Onward Scholars Program at Sacred Heart High School. She is a Los Angeles native with Salvadoran roots passionate about educational equity. As a first-generation college graduate, Liliana strives to co-create spaces for youth to strengthen their sense of self, leadership skills, and opportunities to explore their passions in hopes of making college and career decisions that lead to fulfilling lives. She is honored to work in partnership with the Sacred Heart community in supporting each scholar's individualized path to becoming college and career ready.
Liliana has served students as a teacher in New York and Los Angeles. She founded a school in Watts as a school administrator and then transitioned into supporting students as a college access program director at College Track. She received her Dual Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology and Spanish from Loyola Marymount University and a Master’s of Science in Elementary Education with a Bilingual/Dual Language extension from Bank Street College in New York City. Liliana is also an outdoor instructor for Outward Bound Adventures. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, dancing salsa, and traveling.
